Week 5 in Review: Aug. 5-11

By Cindy Posey | August 14, 2007

I’m steadily increasing my activity levels. It feels good to have a slight soreness in my arms from strength training. I feel the progress. I’m a little concerned about the heat and the upcoming 5K. I haven’t been able to run outside because the heat’s been so oppressive. I need to wake up early in the morning to get some “field runs” done this week. I’ve worked out on the treadmill, but it’s not the same feeling as being outside.

Cardiovascular: Two 35 minute treadmill workouts, one hour walk (low intensity).

Strength Training: Two workouts including eight exercises for 3 sets at 12 repetitions a piece.

Nutrition: Tracked my diet for four days. I discovered that I was eating within my calorie allotment, but my fat grams were through the roof!

Abs: I only completed one full workout for abs.

Body Composition: August 10th also marked the day I document my weight. I lost two pounds in the past month and now weigh 171. My total weight loss since I joined the Y (2 months ago) and got serious about losing weight is 7 pounds.

I’m working on the Personal Assessment and will write my results when I finish all the components. It’s a real eye opener for me, especially, the nutritional assessment.

How are you doing in your journey?
