Dear Body, A Letter Just for You
By Cindy Posey | February 14, 2008
Suzanne Reismann at BlogHer has created, A Letter to My Body. The idea is to write a letter to your body and share it via Mr. Linky. By sitting down and writing to my body, I hope to focus on the things I forget to remember–I couldn’t do anything without MY BODY! I hope you join in the fun and visit Suzanne’s post. It’s inspiring and perfect for the Journey we are on to be healthy and fit!
Dear Body,
I forget to tell you how much I appreciate your service. I am constantly busy and moving to entertain the children, keep the house clean, run errands, grocery shop and, well, you’re quite aware of what I do because I couldn’t do any of it without you. You walk, run and sit with me day in and day out. You keep me warm when it’s cold outside. You keep me cool when I exercise and exert stress on you. You challenge me daily to push outside of my comfort zones to improve in running and strength training. I thank you for being here for me.
Even when I’m sick, you go into overdrive to fix me. I struggle to keep you hydrated and you remind me when I’ve overstepped my negligence with a dry mouth and craving for water. When I sit too long, you start jabbing me with slight signals to start moving. When I haven’t stretched, you tighten me up and remind me to pay attention to my muscles. Even when I eat a bit much or eat the wrong things, you work hard to compensate for my silly decisions. I know that I don’t see all the things you’re doing inside, but I know you’re working hard and you deserve my attention.
My goal is to make sure I hydrate you, add lotion to my dry skin and revitalize your appearance. I struggle to clothe you properly and it’s my desire to start paying attention to fashion and give you the look you deserve. You’ve blessed me with a nice shape and I must work extra hard to feed you properly. By stepping up to your challenges, I’ll improve in showing off your muscles and natural shape through exercise and a nutritionally sound diet. I love how you show off my biceps and I look forward to giving you the opportunity to show off a tapered waist and tight abs!
Most importantly, I thank you so much for my children. You were their home and you knew exactly how to care and provide for them with perfection. But, you didn’t stop there. You continue to serve them by allowing me to run, play, jump, crawl and hold them. The hugs, kisses and affections you allow me to bestow on them daily are all because of you. Thank you for all you do!
Love,
Cindy

This is an awesome letter. Would you mind going over and posting a one paragraph intro and a link to the post – not in comments but as a stand alone blog post on BlogHer? (Just go over and click “create content” in the top right corner, once you’ve logged in and select Blog Entry – use the letter to my body topic in the first drop down menu!) That way you’ll be added to the Widget that other people are going to put on their blogs. I’d love for thousands of women to read this letter.
Thank you Denise!

What a fantastic body you have! Thanks for sharing all the awesome things it does. It’s funny how we can forget these things in the hustle and bustle of life.
Well said!!!
Excellent post, Cindy! Definitely made me appreciate my own body a lot more than I usually do.
Thank you ladies. We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day. We made playdough, made cards for the grandparents and danced! Stephanie really liked the Valentine’s Day workout.
Thanks for sharing this, Cindy.
What a positive way to approach the letter to my body challenge. So inspirational!
I think you just inspired my to write a letter to my body as the recent mounts of living in the mountains have been a physical challenge. I’m used to walking but climbing so much in new to me and I feel the stress on the body, yesterday I manages to walk the entire route without feeling tired and it is great to feel the change!
