Week 9: Running is Fun, Feb. 24-Mar 1
By Cindy Posey | March 5, 2008
The competitive bug to run, more than walk the Half-Marathon is growing inside me. I feel the need to stop the excuses and run. I’m still battling the days where I think, “Why am I doing this? I can sit out today. ” Those days are becoming less as my mental resolve is strengthening. It feels great. My total running mileage this week was 12 miles.
Sunday: I completed a 5 mile run on the treadmill in under 50 minutes.
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 3.5 mile treadmill run. An additional 10 minutes on the Cardio Wave.
Wednesday: Light stretching and simple dumbbell routine at home.
Thursday: Nothing. I succumbed to the do-nothing bug!
Friday: Fast paced walk with friends in the morning for 50 minutes. 3.5 mile run on the treadmill with an additional 10 minute Cardio Wave workout.
Saturday: Beautiful day outside. Worked in the yard and played outdoors with the children. It was 60 degrees.
Overall, I’m feeling good. I’m excited to feel the improvements in building running distance. I’m looking forward to the nicer weather and hitting the Greenways. My goal this week is to find balance and make sure I get my full strength training routines accomplished. Two months are already down! Welcome to March. Spring is just around the corner.

Great post and good goal for the week. Sometimes it is just incredible the voice inside saying not to do the workout.
Keep up the good work!
Hey, just get out there and run. Enjoy yourself. I run for my mental health, as well as physical health. It’s a great time to be outdoors, get sweaty, and fit!
5 miles on the treadmill? That takes willpower—good for you!!! Yes, I cannot wait for spring!
60 degrees! I’m jealous.
You are doing great! It is warming up here in WA too and today was beautiful and I got outside and sat in the sun for a while, it was great….can’t wait for summer! ; )
Sound like you should go for it! I have to admire your willpower but it sounds you are up to the challenge.
Thank you everyone. It feels like spring, but Monday it was right back to the 30s with snow flurries. So it’s an up and down time around here. Yep, I’m a Spring and Summer time person too!
Oooh, another mom who can help inspire me on my half marathon journey! I’ve now got you bookmarked!
